These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the McFly Aviation website at mcfly.aero and its connected services (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by McFly Aviation ("we", "us", or "our"). By registering an account, logging in, or otherwise using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
McFly Aviation is a standalone virtual airline platform — a community of flight simulation enthusiasts. The Service lets pilots register and manage a profile, book and dispatch flights using SimBrief, track those flights with the Stratos desktop client, file Pilot Reports (PIREPs), earn experience points based on real flight telemetry, climb the ranks, join organised tours, and view live traffic on the live map. McFly Aviation is a hobby community only and is in no way a real-world air operator or commercial carrier.
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, or older if your country of residence requires it. If you are under 18 you must obtain your parent or legal guardian's permission. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration (display name, email, optional VATSIM / IVAO / Discord IDs, and a brief description of your flying experience) and to keep that information updated. You are solely responsible for the security of your password and for any activity performed under your account.
You agree to fly and act in good faith and in the spirit of the community. You will not file fraudulent or fabricated PIREPs, exploit the scoring engine, falsify flight telemetry, artificially inflate your experience points, share your account or Stratos API key with others, attempt to gain unauthorised access to another pilot's data, or interfere with the Service's operation. Violations may result in zeroed scores, rejected PIREPs, suspension, or permanent removal from the airline at our discretion.
The Service connects with the Stratos desktop client so your flight simulator data is uploaded as an ACARS log. On registration we issue you a unique pilot API key that authenticates Stratos to the Service; this key is yours alone and must not be shared. ACARS data — including position, altitude, ground speed, fuel, phase changes, landing rate, and touchdown G-force — is processed to score your PIREP and is stored as part of your logbook. Stratos may occasionally report a successful submission as failed for auto-accepted flights; we are not liable for that client-side display behaviour.
The Service integrates with SimBrief (simbrief.com) for Dispatch flight-plan generation and interacts with third-party flight networks including VATSIM, IVAO, PilotEdge, and POSCON for live ATC displays during briefings. Use of those external services is subject to their own terms and policies. We transmit only the minimum data needed to produce a briefing or connect a tracking session and we are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or policies of third-party services.
Each PIREP is automatically scored using the active scoring rules configured by McFly Aviation staff. Scoring outcomes (net XP, earned and deducted points, manual-review flags, and per-rule breakdown) are final once written. Scores, ranks, badges, tour progress, and other pilot records may be reviewed, adjusted, or revoked at any time by staff in the case of discovered telemetry errors, rule violations, or fraudulent activity. Manual XP adjustments applied by staff enter your total as a permanent, auditable Score Adjustment record.
All flight data, route planning, briefings, scores, ranks, and statistics produced by the Service are simulated and for entertainment only. None of the Service may be used for real-world flight planning, navigation, weather briefing, or aircraft performance decisions. McFly Aviation shall not be relied upon for any aviation-critical activity.
The McFly Aviation name, logos, badges, design, and accompanying text are the property of McFly Aviation and may not be reproduced, redistributed, or imitated without written permission. Pilot-submitted content (display name, comments, optional community uploads) remains owned by you, but you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display it within the Service. We respect intellectual property rights and will respond to takedown requests when properly submitted.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that scores or telemetry will be accurate. To the maximum extent permitted by law, McFly Aviation, its operators, and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of your use of or inability to use the Service.
We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without cause or notice, including for violations of these Terms or to protect the integrity of the Service. Upon termination your right to use the Service ends immediately. Termination does not erase PIREP records already filed — they remain part of the airline's history and leaderboard, though the associated user identity may be anonymised.
We may modify these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be surfaced on the site; continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Questions about these Terms can be sent to barna@mcfly.aero.
